MEET THE CREW 2019/2020 SEASON
Captain: Danny Del Valle
Chef/First Mate: Abigail Martin
Danny and Abbie met back in 2016 on a boat in St.Thomas that Danny was captaining. After a wonderful day on the water with Danny, Abbie invited Danny to learn how to sail Hobie cats at Cinnamon bay, St. John where she was working Abbie was at the time and in no time Danny and her were sailing all around the islands together.
Danny has been working in the charter industry for over a decade and started out on sport fishing boats back at home in Puerto Rico. Besides his love for fishing, he just adores to be out on the water, diving and snorkeling.
Abbie has been working professionally on sailboats for 3 years but has been on the water her whole life. Growing up on a lake, sailing on her sunfish and always looking for a new water-sport to learn. Her first job was a lifeguard, she’s a trained scuba diver, and went to college for zoology and has become an exceedingly knowledgeable wildlife naturalist guide. Abbie is also very good with her video editing skills and loves to make short films of their happy charter guest week in the beautiful Virgin Islands.
In addition to working in the yacht world, they both love to travel and adventure as much as possible and have dreams to someday sail around the world together.
On the complete opposite end of the spectrum Abbie started a non-profit after college called the Jaguar Identification Project. The project studies wild jaguars in a very remote place of the Brazilian Pantanal. This is where she spends the slow months of the hurricane season hosting volunteers and working with camera trap research.
Abbie has worked in the restaurant industry for many years before working under incredible yacht chefs on S/V Cuan Law. Her last yacht chef she worked under is a incredible teacher and has taught her an array of knowledge in the galley. Danny is not only an incredible fisherman and can catch dinner right off the back of the boat but he also is a skilled chef and spent a year at international cooking school.
