Captain Coupland was born on January 1st 1978 in Birmingham Alabama. He held many jobs in many fields before finding his true calling on the deck of the 175’ three masted schooner Mystic. After his first taste of “Tall Ships” and sailing for a living he could never go back. After the Mystic halted operations in 2013 he moved around to any traditionally rigged sailing ship that needed his help. This kept him sailing, working and learning on ships ranging from over 200’ down to 67’ in ports of call ranging from Sicily to South America over the next six years when he returned home to St. Thomas and combined his unique talents for sailing and hospitality by permanently joining the yacht chartering fleet here in the US Virgin Islands. He has spent time in every harbor from Anegada to Old San Juan and is looking forward to sharing his local knowledge with you.!
