Number of Crew: 4

CAPTAIN: Juan Alvarez – Spanish
Joined 2018
Juan is an experienced Captain who has accrued over 20 years of time at sea. He started his career with the Spanish navy regatta commission where he spent over 3 years racing yachts all over the Mediterranean, crossing the Atlantic to Puerto Rico and participating in nine World Championships, with great success. His passion for sailing lead Juan to participate in the Americas Cup in San Diego where he managed the meteorology and analyst team, he then took the leap to join the yachting industry full time. Juan quickly found his feet in this field, as Captain on board Fortuna, owned by the H.M. King Juan Carlos I of Spain. Which at the time was very much in the lime light as one of the fastest yachts in the world. The years of experience have proven Juan as a natural on charter. He always puts guests at ease in a warm, welcoming and safe environment. When not onboard, Juan enjoys spending time with his family and activities such as running, sailing, and playing the piano.
