Giles joins ICON with over 20 years’ Captain experience on both private and charter yachts
ranging in size from 30m up to 67m.
Giles is a natural on charter, an excellent motivator, putting all guests at ease in a warm welcoming
environment.
Giles grew up around the water and sailed extensively from an early age. After leaving school
he worked for 5 years on board fast multi hulls and sailing yachts followed by two years diving on
the Barrier Reef and the Coral Sea. In 1992 he took his first job on board the yacht M/Y Deneb
Star and has worked in the super yacht industry ever since.
During his career he has cruised extensively throughout Asia, Australia, Indian Ocean, East &
West Med, Caribbean and the Red Sea.
Giles is an avid scuba diver with a dive master license and keen kite surfer with a love of deepsea
fishing.

CHEF: Michelle Bonetti – Australian/Swiss

Australian born Michelle is a culinary trained chef well versed in all cuisines, she has worked alongside many Michelin star chefs. Michelle has also completed an intensive sushi training course.
Joining the yachting industry early 2015 she went on to win first place at the 2015 Antigua Boat Show Chefs Competition on board M/Y Zeepard.
Michelle has spent the last two Med seasons on the 50m M/Y Mosaique ‘wowing’ guests with her culinary expertise.
Prior to joining the yachting industry Michelle was ‘Chef de Partie’ at Print Hall one of Western Australia’s best restaurants.
Michelle’s objective is to satisfy culinary desires, embrace local produce, and provide guests with the highest level of cuisine.
Michelle has a diploma of business and photography.

SOUS CHEF: Mieke Bosman – South African

Mieke was introduced to yachting in 2016 when she accepted a temp stewardess position on-board M/Y Lady Katherine V (61m), deciding that this industry was for her and she moved on as stewardess to M/Y Laurel (74m). Miekes last two positions have been as stewardess/crew cook which she has thoroughly enjoyed. Mieke moved to M/Y ICON and is enjoying the challenges that the position of Sous Chef brings.
Prior to yachting Mieke worked at the high-end restaurant Delaire Graff Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, she also has experience in nannying.
When not busy in the galley Mieke enjoys hiking, running and the outdoors.

CHIEF STEWARDESS: Mihaela Pownall – Croatian

Michaela took a two-year break from yachting to have her first baby, prior to this she had eight successful seasons on M/Y Mosaique and she is now really happy to be back with Captain Jez and the core crew from Mosaique on M/Y Icon!
In addition to her considerable experience in hospitality and yachting, Mihaela is a qualified pharmacist, an expert in mixing cocktails and silver service. Along with her experience, her warm and friendly nature makes her the perfect hostess onboard, always on hand to anticipate guests’ requirements.
Mihaela loves to travel, read and is a very good salsa dancer in her spare time.

CHIEF OFFICER: Mark Lambert – Australian

Australian born Mark is well used to growing up around the sea having previously worked on Maxi yachts in the Whitsundays, dinghy sailing to national level on 420’s and instructing children to sail as well as becoming a rescue diver.
Mark spent five seasons on-board M/Y Mosaique previously working on the busy Med-based charter yacht M/Y Seven Sins as deckhand.

Growing up in the coastal city of Perth in Western Australia, Daniel grew up sailing and a love for the sea! Since a young age he has competitively raced dinghies also entering multiple national titles across Australia, it was during this time that he decided to turn a hobby into a career.
Daniel enjoys free diving and has also been certified as a diving instructor last year in Asia. In the next five years’ he wants to progress in the yachting career and improve his underwater videography skills

CHIEF ENGINEER: Zelijko Milanovic – Croatian

Chief engineer Zelijko grew up in Split and studied marine engineering at university before obtaining his license, then working on container vessels for 3 years before going back to studying and doing his six months mandatory national service, he then worked on offshore vessels. One day he had a phone call which gave him the opportunity to work on M/Y ICON and he has never looked back. Zelijko likes to travel back to Split whenever possible to spend time with his family.
2ND ENGINEER: Ivan Antonic – Croatian

Ivan was raised in Rijeka, Croatia, he started his career as a waiter aboard tourist boats, then joined a cruise-ship company as an engineering cadet. After working on cargo vessels for 8 years he decided to join the world of luxury yachting on-board M/Y ICON. Ivan loves basketball, water polo, hiking and cycling.

Originally from Split, Croatia, Andrej has completed a host of Electrical Engineering and Electronics related studies and has accrued almost 10 years’ experience in this field onboard cruise liners. He joined the super yacht industry on M/Y ICON in October 2017 and
understandably, has never looked back! Andrej is also an experienced dive instructor and his interests and hobbies include photography and graphic design.

BOSUN: George Thatcher – British

George started his yachting career on board M/Y Mosaique and prior to this spent one year at the Superyacht Cadetship UKSA where he gained a clear understanding of the superyacht industry.
George was selected for an Oxford Football Scholarship and played for professional academies. He also did a six weeks’ trial for Chelsea Football Club, and was then offered a scholarship at Reading Academy but chose the Superyacht Cadetship at UKSA to pursue a career at sea.
George enjoys water skiing, wake-boarding and rugby.

After finishing University in 2016 Josh started his career working in events, and later went onto the Royal Marines Young Officer Selection. Deciding that yachting was really his career of choice in early 2018 he started day working on yachts which led to him joining M/Y ICON.
Describing himself as an outgoing and ambitious individual with a strong work ethic, and hungry to enhance his skill set in the industry.
When he’s not busy onboard Josh has a wide range of hobbies such as sailing, skiing, hiking, fitness & health and photography & travel.

2ND STEWARDESS: Lucie Carbuccia – French

Lucie had a memorable three seasons onboard M/Y Mosaique, which has drawn her to join M/Y Icon with Captain Jez and the other core crew members. Originally from Corsica, Lucie brings with her a healthy service background, having previously worked in some of the UK’s well-respected boutique hotels. During her two-year break from yachting, she has enjoyed being on stage as a background vocal and recorded in some reputed American recording studios as well as organizing concerts. Lucie also has a high interest in personal development and has experience in bodywork. Her altruistic personality makes her pay close attention to guests’ enjoyment. As a wine lover, she enjoys representing the “French Touch” onboard as well as being the yachts official French translator.

STEWARDESS: Patricija Sostaric – Croatian

Hailing from Split in Croatia, most of Patricija’s working experience started with seasonal jobs in tourism while she was studying management at college. It was through her
experiences gained in various bars and high-end hotels that she was introduced to the yachting industry when she was hired on- board MY Antelope III (43M) during a refit period in Croatia. From that point, she was hooked and was determined to take the opportunities further. An easy going, quick learner, who thrives on working in a close environment, Paticija invests effort and energy into all she does. In her spare time, Patricija enjoys, photography, time with young children, and hiking. She also loves pets!
