DOLCEVITACAT Crew Profile

Captain Name: MAX LOUBSER

Captain Nationality: DEUTSCH

Number of Crew: 2

Max and Haily are a young energetic couple whose passion for sailing and the outdoors is contagious. With over 20 years of sailing in the Caribbean, this crew can take you to all of the secret spots and hidden treasures on your sailing vacation.

Max was born in South Africa but was raised in the Caribbean after his parents sailed across the Atlantic soon after he was born. Having grown up on a sailboat in St. Maarten and the surrounding Caribbean islands and subsequently following a career on luxury yachts, Max has been on the sea his entire life. He has explored every cave dive, kiteboarded nearly every bay, and sailed to each island in the Caribbean chain.
He made his first trip across the Atlantic as crew at the age of thirteen, and after finishing school went on to study at the maritime colleges in Europe. He worked on luxury yachts for 10 years working his way up to 1st Officer. He holds a Captain’s License for 200-ton vessels and a Chief Officer’s License for 3000-ton vessels. In 2013, at the age of 23, Max asked his friends, “You guys want to sail around the world with me?” A few friends, a sailboat, and plenty of beer stocked in the fridge – Max and his crew took off for two years of sea exploration around the world. These were pivotal years for him as a captain and taught him how to calmly deal with any situation or weather on the water.

Max enjoys anything that involves being above or below the surface of the water. Kiteboarding takes the top spot, and he spends any free time discovering new places to launch the kite and hit the water. After getting certified at age 11, Max also loves getting in the water with a scuba tank. But if there isn’t one, he uses bigger fins and joins the fish freediving.

Haily was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, which is where she gets her southern hospitality with guests onboard. She moved to Colorado after college to explore the beauty and adventure of the Rocky Mountains. Being an avid activities lover, the mountains provided her with an endless array of sports and exploration.

Having studied to be a registered nurse but unable to settle down in one place with her urge to travel, she quickly worked to become a traveling RN, specializing in the operating room. This gave Haily the freedom to move around to different hospitals but most importantly, to discover new places. Wanting to try something completely new, Haily’s journey landed her in the Caribbean islands to pursue a slightly different lifestyle with Max. Her southern hospitality combined with the ability to take care of others makes her a natural caregiver with those onboard. And what she loves most is satisfying your hunger pains by providing delicious meals, making you feel right at home. Her culinary training with a French chef spiced up her southern cooking, and she loves to blend her cuisine with light Mediterranean meals. Her food keeps you light on your feet and energized through the day, so you can quickly get back to adventuring!

With a background in activities like skiing, mountain biking, kayaking, scuba diving, hiking, and rock climbing, Haily added another one to her ever-growing list – sailing and sea exploring. Whether it be hiking a dormant volcano or scuba diving through coral reefs, she gets to bring the same thrill and wonder to people sailing the islands of the Caribbean.
