CAPTAIN NEIL AND CHEF KAREN ROCK
Neil is from the North of England and Karen is from Toronto Canada, they have been married for over 30 years, many of those at sea. When not sailing they call Lunenburg Nova Scotia Home.

Neil grew up sailing classic yachts on the River Mersey venturing up to Scotland, Wales and to Neil’s second passion the Isle of Man to watch the motorcycle racing. Neil has had a full career at sea from commercial fishing vessels, luxury charter yachts, ocean off shore passages, lobster fishing in the North Atlantic to working on movie sets on the most recent Willum Defoe and Robert Pattison movie ‘The Light House’. With plenty a shanty tale to tell and intimate knowledge of Caribbean waters, Neil will be your perfect host.

Karen started her culinary career just out of high school working in a authentic English tea house, baking scones and cooking traditional English lunches. After she completed college she perused a career in medicine conducting clinical trials in the urology field. With a passion for the sea and the galley it was just a matter of time till she returned to college to study the culinary arts. Karen likes to utilise local ingredients and spices to give her guests a true taste of the Caribbean.

Neil and Karen are seasoned veterans of the yachting industry, with over 150 weeks of charter and many sea miles sailing from Grenada, the east coast of the US all the way to the Canadian border. They welcome you aboard Leysan and will ensure you have a vacation of a life time.

MATE REMI LECLEZIO
Remi Leclezio grew up on the enchanting island of Mauritius. His family had a beach house on the southern coast. Growing up on an island surrounded by perfect white sand beaches and the stunning blue Indian Ocean would make anyone an ocean lover. Ever since Remi can remember he has been on or under the water, surfing, sailing, free-diving, spearfishing, and scuba diving. He says, “I was lucky enough to attend a school that offered sailing as a sport. I started sailing on small optimists, then lasers, L26, L36. As I grew bigger, so did the boats I learned to sail. Last year I attended the Cannes Royal sailing regatta in France. We sailed on a 59m Schooner, which was awesome!”

Being close to nature, Remi developed a strong belief in environmental conservation and protection. He earned a Bachelor Degree in Social Science in Geography and Environmental Management. He worked in the hospitality industry for two years as a waiter and bartender. Last year he spent working in France, where his fluent French was an asset. He gained professional experience on several different yachts. Not only does Remi know the charter rules and regulations, he’s also skilled at caring for and pleasing people.

Remi likes to do whatever it takes to help create a fabulous vacation for his guests. He lends a hand whenever guests are in need of a little help and happily shares his favorite water sports tips and techniques. He is very patient with children and has a magical ability to make them laugh. Most importantly, he pays attention to detail, because he says, “sometimes it’s the small things that make a big difference”.
