SOMETHING WONDERFUL Crew Profile

Captain Name: Brad Evans

Captain Nationality: South African/British

Number of Crew: 2

Capt. Paul Johnson

Paul is from Greater Manchester, UK and has been sailing since the age of four. He was brought up dingy sailing and successfully campaigned many highly competitive seasons in dinghy classes. Paul has sailed the Caribbean, Pacific, East coast of the USA and the UK. With such a love for the sea it was only natural that Paul wanted to add the qualifications to match his experience and establish a career as a captain.

For two years Paul studied watersports activity leadership at Falmouth Marine School. He has a commercially endorsed Yachtmaster Offshore 200 ton and has undertaken an approved engineers course in the UK. He is also a PADI Divermaster and has a AIDA II Freediving certification.

Paul has been managing and running yachts for 15 years. One of the highlights was winning Best in Show at the British Virgin Islands charter yacht show in 2011.

Chef/1st Mate Isabella Matterson

Isabella is from Cape Town, South Africa. She has always had a love for the ocean and outdoors. Once she joined the Yachting Industry, Isabella found a love for sailing. She has sailed the East Coast of the USA, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean and the South Pacific. After gaining her sea time, she undertook her Capitan’s license and now holds a RYA 200 ton Yachtmaster Offshore.

Isabella’s passion for cooking started whilst living at home cooking for her family and friends. She became inspired to take on a culinary career while working with different yacht chefs aboard. She later attended a professional cooking course at Ashburton Chefs Academy in the UK.
Isabella always uses fresh local ingredients of the highest quality available. She will create a unique and exciting menu plan according to your preferences.
She also holds her PADI Divemaster and AIDA II Free Diver certification.

Paul & Isabella have been working and travelling together for over five years. They work seamlessly together to make your experience one of the best!

Brad Evans and Amanda Hyatt
Born and raised in sunny Durban, South Africa, Brad has been around the water all his life, from surfing to spearfishing and diving. Coming from a background in five star hotels, Brad has managed high end bars and restaurants in London as well as spending the last five years learning the ins and outs of sailing and motor yachts. His qualifications as a Captain and Divemaster are only the start of his skills in ensuring the comfort and safety of guests on board. His life long passion for the water and his ability to make anyone laugh at a given moment makes his presence unforgettable. He now finds home in the Caribbean with extensive knowledge of ports from the Virgin Islands to Grenada and their rich histories. Having successfully completed many deliveries and four transatlantic crossings, he is also familiar with the Mediterranean and Europe. He is most happy when his guests are having their dream vacation while sharing their mutual love of the big blue.
Hailing from Virginia Beach, VA, Amanda’s passion for the water began young, brought up by the beach on her uncle’s 24ft sloop and thriving in all water sports from surfing to kiteboarding. Amanda has been in the service industry since she first began working in fine dining restaurants in her teens and catering festivals across the United States after college. After three years as crew in the Caribbean and a transatlantic crossing, she is excited to bring her culinary skills to the galley following formal culinary training at the Ashburton Chefs Academy in Devon, England. Not only is she capable of producing excellent meals, but is sure to keep the atmosphere aboard lively and organized. Also a PADI Rescue diver, she shares her love for recreation under the water with the guests as well. She loves to show them the laid back island culture and make sure they are well fed, focusing on wholesome, light and fresh fare. Amanda is very flexible and enjoys hosting what ever style service the guests prefer, catering to a variety of culinary cuisines and preferences. She is sure to make your time aboard an absolute delight.
Brad and Amanda met just before making a transatlantic crossing together and have successfully worked together for over two seasons in the Caribbean. Their ability to adapt to every guests unique needs have made them a popular duo. They find their interactive, thoughtful & fun style of taking care of their guests leaves them with a vacation they will never forget and a longing to return.
